Lawn Lovers cuts grass, not wages

Local lawn care company certified as a living wage employer

According to Indeed, the median salary of a lawn care specialist is $19.47 per hour. Lawn Lovers in Calgary however has committed to paying their employees at least a living wage of $22.40 for 2023. “Minimum wage is not enough, especially in today’s world with rising levels of inflation,” says Lawn Lover’s owner Hassaan Majid when asked what motivated him to become a certified living wage employer.

The Calgary based lawn care service believes that “it is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that their employees are able to live comfortably.” Lawn Lovers is committed to providing their customers a high quality and dependable lawn care experience. This belief carries into the care they provide their employees. “Employees are willing to be more flexible knowing they have an employer who truly cares and wants to support them,” says Hassaan Majid about what the benefit of paying his employees a living wage is.

For an industry that requires a large amount of heavy labor in exchange for typically minimum wage or slightly above, we are thrilled that Lawn Lovers has committed to providing their employees a wage that allows them to participate in their communities and live in dignity.
